Board of Trustees

BOARD OF TRUSTEES:

    The Sibley Public Library operations shall be governed by a seven member Board of  Trustees.  Board members are appointed by the mayor with the approval of the City Council.  Trustees shall be residents of the city and shall be over 18 years of age. 
    All appointments to the Board shall be for six year terms, except to fill vacancies, with the terms commencing on July 1.  Appointments shall be made every two years of  one-third the total number, or as near as possible, to stagger the terms.
    A vacancy will occur if any trustee moves permanently from the city or if he is absent from six consecutive regular meetings of the Board, except in the case of sickness or temporary absence from the city.  Vacancies shall be filled by appointment of the  Mayor with Council approval, and the new trustee shall fill out the unexpired term for which the appointment was made.

BOARD MEETINGS:

    The monthly meetings of the Board are held on the first Tuesday of each month at 4:30 p.m. in the meeting room of the library.  Board meetings are open to the public and should be advertised in accordance with the open meeting law.  The agenda should  also be posted 24 hours in advance of the meeting.

    The Order of Business at the meetings shall be:
        Roll Call
        Approval of Agenda
        Correspondence and Communications
        Report of the Director
        Financial Report and Approval of Expenditures
        Unfinished Business
        New Business
        Adjournment
